Apple officially unveiled the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max on September 9, 2025, introducing what the company calls its most powerful and advanced Pro models ever. The new devices feature a striking redesigned aluminum unibody construction and represent a dramatic leap in performance and battery life.
The standout feature is the completely reimagined design built around a lightweight aerospace-grade 7000-series aluminum alloy unibody. This new architecture incorporates an Apple-designed vapor chamber that is laser-welded into the chassis to enhance heat dissipation and allow the powerful A19 Pro chip to operate at even higher performance levels while managing surface temperatures.
The camera system receives major upgrades with three 48MP Fusion cameras including Main, Ultra Wide, and an all-new Telephoto lens that offers the equivalent of eight lenses. Most impressively, the iPhone 17 Pro delivers the longest optical-quality zoom ever on iPhone at 8x magnification. An innovative 18MP Center Stage front camera also elevates the selfie experience to new heights.
For content creators and filmmakers, Apple introduced industry-first video features including ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2, and genlock capabilities, allowing the iPhone to integrate seamlessly into both large and small production workflows. The devices also feature Ceramic Shield 2 front cover with 3x better scratch resistance, with Ceramic Shield protection extending to the back of the iPhone for the first time.
Battery life sees enormous improvements thanks to the new unibody design creating space for larger batteries, combined with the efficiency of the A19 Pro chip and advanced power management in iOS 26. The iPhone 17 Pro Max offers the best battery life ever in an iPhone, with both models capable of charging 50 percent in just 20 minutes using Apple’s new 40W Dynamic Power Adapter.
The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will be available in three new finishes: deep blue, cosmic orange, and silver. Pre-orders begin Friday, September 12, with general availability starting Friday, September 19, followed by 22 additional countries and regions on September 26.
