A missing woman found alive in southeastern China after being trapped for two days in a well filled with water and snakes has captivated social media with her incredible survival story. Qin, 48, accidentally fell into an abandoned well on September 13 during a walk in the woods and spent 54 harrowing hours clinging to the wall to avoid drowning or snake bites.
Rescue Efforts and Discovery
Her family reported her missing the following day, prompting a search that involved a team of 10 rescuers equipped with a thermal drone. On September 15, faint cries for help were detected around 1:45 p.m., leading rescuers to find Qin submerged in water at the bottom of the well. She was holding onto narrow cracks with injured, pale hands, surrounded by water snakes.
Survival and Recovery
Qin revealed she survived by gripping a stone and digging makeshift footholds in the well walls, refusing to give up for the sake of her elderly parents and college-aged daughter. After her rescue, she was immediately hospitalized, where doctors diagnosed her with two fractured ribs, a minor collapsed lung, and severe hand injuries. She is now in stable condition.
Her story has gone viral on Chinese social media, with many praising her extraordinary willpower and labeling her survival “unimaginable” and a testament to human strength.
