YouTube settlement Trump has been finalized with the platform agreeing to pay $24.5 million to settle a lawsuit concerning the suspension of former President Donald Trump’s account. This legal dispute arose after YouTube suspended Trump’s channel on January 12, 2021, citing violations of its policies against inciting violence following the January 6 Capitol riots.

Details of the Settlement

The $24.5 million settlement includes a $22 million contribution on Trump’s behalf to the Trust for the National Mall, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the construction of a new White House State Ballroom. Additionally, YouTube’s parent company Alphabet will distribute $2.5 million to other plaintiffs involved in the case, including the American Conservative Union, author Naomi Wolf, and several individuals.

Context Within Broader Big Tech Legal Battles

This settlement concludes a series of lawsuits initiated by Trump against major social media platforms over their decisions to ban him. Earlier in 2025, Meta settled a similar lawsuit by paying $25 million, and X (formerly Twitter) reportedly paid $10 million to resolve related claims. YouTube is the last of the three major platforms to settle these high-profile disputes.
